I feel like this girl got some really poor advise! Obviously the issue here is that Bewildered felt very seriously about this guy before he ruined it. But what she is wondering is if he really meant to ruin it and if he really, really ruined it. My opinion is that 90 % OF ALL MEN UNDER 40 WHO HAVE NEVER BEEN MARRIED THINK THAT WAY. But they hide it from their girls and then tell THEIR FRIENDS. And I know it's wrong to spy on you boyfriend, but I can definitely attest to this being the case for me on many occasions. Anyway, I think it was nice of him to be honest, and the relationship could have continued, HOWEVER!! It did not. It's over. And if he's being weird about it, Bewildered should pull him aside and say "Hey, you're sending me mixed signals and it's confusing and I need to know what is it exactly that you expect. I know this is uncomfortable for you, but when you're ready to give me an answer, you know where to find me and I won't judge." Or something.
