Until the apocalypse? Fortunately, no, though that’s pretty much the story of Buffy’s life. Actually, January 19 is evidently Buffy Summers’ birthday* — and KabaLounge is throwing a virtual party.
Here’s the parlor game: If you could give Buffy Summers one birthday gift, what would it be?
Send them your creative idea for the perfect birthday gift for Buffy. One (1) winner will receive a page of original art from Season 8 drawn by Georges Jeanty!
See KabaLounge for details and official rules. Me, I’m thinking some nice scented candles.
* Coincidence/conspiracy: it’s also the release date for Buffy issue #40!

Via Colin/Whedonesque: GREAT casting move: Dichen joins Captain Jack (at least in the premiere of)… TorchDollWood!
Be still both my hearts!
Aside, from Chris: “I had read that Enver Gjokaj was going to be on this, but I guess it was just a rumor. He now has his own pilot for USA where he plays a con-man working at his brother’s hotel as a concierge servicing rich clients. Sounds like the perfect computer-generated mix of White Collar and Royal Pains.”

15 pounds = reason #23058 to adore Christina Hendricks:
“I guess my mom raised me right. She was very celebratory of her body. I never heard her once say, ‘I feel fat.’ Back when I was modeling, the first time I went to Italy I was having cappuccinos every day, and I gained 15 pounds. And I felt gorgeous! I would take my clothes off in front of the mirror and be like, Oh, I look like a woman. And I felt beautiful, and I never tried to lose it, ‘cause I loved it.”

From our tipster: “This is like doing Pop Rocks and Coke…. put two great things together and IT’S SO GOOD IT CAN KILL YOU. These guys don’t quite do it up to its potential, but it’s just so cool to think, ‘Oh, man, you know what would ROCK? Is if Joss Whedon directed the Avengers. Ha! As IF….’”

(Or did Joss?) Summer Glau becomes crime-fighting blogger in NBC pilot. The Hollywood Reporter says Glau will be part of “The Cape” as a blogger named Orwell who helps the hero fight crime, and even gets into the battle herself. The show is about an ex-cop who’s accused of a crime he didn’t commit, and becomes a costumed hero to clear his name.

Now available at eBay’s Dollhouse fan auction: Echo’s boots, Mellie’s dress, etc. etc.!
“Eeep!” quoth our tipster. “Now if they had some Topher desk toys I could get into this. And/or, you know, Summer Glau in cryofreeze.*
*That’s the Firefly cryofreeze reference, not a creepy, non-specific cryofreeze reference.”

NOOOOOoooooo! Fox has dumped Joss Whedon again.
Quick, what should we send Fox for our mail campaign?
Maybe our old cellphones?
