October 30, 2000   CONTINUED e-mail e-mail to a friend in need

< PREVIOUS LETTER   ||   NEXT LETTER >

Dear Breakup Girl,

I had this boyfriend for two years and when we broke up we were always more than just friends (if you get my meaning). However, he neglected to tell me that he had a girlfriend for the entire three years we'd been fooling around.

Well, I found out his girlfriend's e-mail address, and under a false name I told her that her boyfriend had been cheating on her with me and a bunch of other girls. She replied that she wanted to know who I was, and how I knew her and her boyfriend before she ended the three-year relationship.

I wasted five years before I was thrown away, and now I want revenge! Should I e-mail her again and reaffirm that her boyfriend cheats on her...he will probably assume it is me, if he doesn't already? Or is there something else I can do to make him feel like crap for once?

-- The Other Woman

Dear The Other Woman,

Just make this distinction in your mind: if you tell her more, it's to tell her more, not to tell him off. If she takes what you say to heart, the revenge takes care of itself.

Love,
Breakup Girl

I've become friends with my husband's former mistress! Can I use this against him?
