STIPEND AND THE SINGLE GIRL. In her new memoir, Helen Gurley Brown reveals that at age 24, she had an "arrangement" with a 43-year-old movie executive. She describes the setup as: "freedom from hunger and want, bye-bye pinchies and scrimpies, farewell fiscal fright." Around here, this revelation has sparked not only discussion (how come this seems to make her, like, "saucy," but if he wrote about it, he'd be a grody letch?), but also haiku (by BG pal Amy K.):

Helen Gurley Brown
screwed a guy to get some cash.
"Farewell fiscal fright!"

AMY AND ISABELLE. The bestselling story of a mother and daughter who could take a lesson from Ava and Mary Jo.*

BAD SELF-ESTEEM DAY. Researchers at Yale have found that bad hair days "affect individuals' self-esteem increasing self-doubt, intensifying social insecurities, and becoming more self-critical in general." It's not all in/on your head!

DATING SECRETS OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. Book title of the week! The author of Kosher Sex posits that singles can apply, like, THE rules -- the laws governing the archetypal love affair between God and people -- to their own search for an earthly soulmate. (Breakup Mom: "So how about honoring us with some grandchildren?")

REDENVELOPE. Call it Martha Stewart...Loving (joke borrowed from these guys): enjoy "gourmet body paint" (heck, who needs a date?) from this romance emporium (they also offer 911 immediate-delivery, depending on how romantic you think that is).

WE ARE ALL SUPERHEROES. At Lee's Superhero Generator.

MEND BROKEN HEARTS FOR REAL. At the Virtual Cardiology lab!

*(Superhuman error: I know I mentioned this book before, but I meant to hold off. Now it's actually available.)
