Dear Breakup Girl,
Do women like bald men, or are there so few that there is no hope of finding
someone? Should I get my hair back (surgery, wig, etc.) or wait for that one-in-a-million
girl who doesn't mind it or just get used to being lonely? I have a lot of endearing
qualities, but nobody can see them because they stare at my head. I'm only in
my 20s, and I don't want to be alone forever.
--Steve
Dear Steve,
Oooh, are you Michael Jordan, Daniel Benzali, Mark Messier,
Mitch Pileggi, or that guy at my gym? Because then I could say for sure that
women find you attractive. Oh wait, I
can say that no matter who you are. I mean, sure, yes, the sucky truth is
that some will write you off. But people write people off for a
million dumbass reasons, including the color/style/location of whatever
hair they do have. And many people will not. (See Shoutout
to E.)
Especially if you -- as anyone should -- make sure
to do your best to fill in the space between your "endearing qualities"
"inside" and what you assume people see/think "outside."
You can consider
surgery if you like, but it won't magically fix your life. What if you got
hair, and still felt like you couldn't get women? Find ways to make sure
those qualities speak loudest, hang out in places where they sparkle (like doing
stuff you love). Worthy women will respond not to a full head of hair, but to
a full sense of self-confidence.
Bring on the Shoutouts!
Love,
Breakup Girl
