Attention Boston ladies: Jason is waitin’

Filed under: News — posted by Maria @ 8:52 am

Nothing says friendship like starting a blog to find your buddy a girl. And so on Aug. 1, Date a Jason was born.

Josh, friend of Jason, told the Boston Globe he created the site because his friend is a good guy who deserves to find a good woman. He also believes bars are bad for meeting women, dating websites are too confusing and dating stinks in Boston. Apparently none of that is true of Blogger, however.

The site features pictures of Jason — including the obligatory shot with his shirt off — and the following description:

This site is dedicated to my single, disease free, friend Jason (Age 28). We’ve tried all the other bull shit. BBQs, bars, friends of friends, etc…So we are taking the search online. He’s a fun, interesting, smart, and gainfully employed guy who likes to travel and stay active. Just recently moved into downtown Boston. Looking to meet a nice young woman. If are interested please contact us at: Date.A.Jason@gmail.com

To tell the truth, Jason is sort of cute and I’m sure he’ll prove very popular with the Boston-area ladies. He’ll probably even get his own reality TV program.

“The Accidental Cougar”

Filed under: Psychology,Treats — posted by Breakup Girl @ 11:20 pm

BG just stumbled across this oldish-ie but goodie in the Boston Globe Magazine by Erika Cann, who writes: “[A]s I hurtle toward 40, I find myself irresistible to younger men. While I used to be focused on 30- to 40-something mid-career professionals in Dockers, I find that in my pursuit of these “safe bets,” I’m tripping over young Zac Efron look-alikes who are falling to their knees. I have become an Accidental Cougar.”

Say what you want about the term “cougar” — what I want to say, for example, is: “How come we call women who date younger men ‘cougars,’ and men who date younger women ‘men’? — but that, really, isn’t the point of Cann’s charming piece, which is really about being open, adventurous, and patient in the safari of love. Go enjoy the rest after one more bonus teaser: “During this year and a half, I dated a handful of interesting guys all seven to 14 years my junior and was only once approached by a guy in my age range. I went out with him the same weekend I had a date with a 27-year-old, winding up at a string quartet one night and ‘Beerfest’ the next. I fell asleep at one of these events, but I’m too embarrassed to say which one.”

From heartbreak to Hermes

Filed under: News,Treats — posted by Maria @ 10:00 am

First we heard about ExBoyfriendJewelry.com. Now we hear, via the Boston Globe, that both online and off, sales of emotionally-tarnished gewgaws have actually created a mini “ex-boyfriend economy” unto itself. Helping fuel the reportedly “unprecedented assault on jewelry boxes and dresser drawers,” apparently, are the currently “record prices for precious metals.”

I have a box, not exactly FULLfull, but containing quite a few once-shiny little items from exes. What better way to underwrite the cost of that strappy little dress I have my eye on! (Then again, those wee baubles from “Roger” will go perfectly with it, so I’ll at least have to hang on to them…)
