for BG’s Biggest GirlCrush: The Movie.

Via Broadsheet:
List of the Day has a series of photos in which scorned women get back at cheating exes. I feel a heady mix of emotions when I look at this compilation, which includes snapshots such as half a dozen hatchets buried in the hood of a car and other boil-the-bunny shockers: horror, amusement, sadness, shock. I feel hungry, but only because it’s nearly noon and I ate an early breakfast. Mostly I feel grateful that some combination of anger management, decent exes and propriety has prevented me from lashing out in such an operatic manner myself. Then again, I’m still young. Kind of.

Need a last-minute wedding gift?
Here.
You’re welcome.
It’s sort of a necessity once you hit the age — you know, the age between “boys/girls have cooties” and “I’m pregnant!” — that your school district (one hopes, anyway) starts flooding the lesson-plan infrastructure with talks about SEX and CONDOMS and VAGINAS. OH MY GOD. (My mom used to call them “pookies,” by the way, so from my childhood on, anytime I met a furry friend or stuffed animal with that name I burst into hysterics. Nobody got it.) Anyway. Planned Parenthood, as you may know, also — especially where schools and other grownups drop the ball — tries to help teens muddle through the skeery, scary world of sex. (Free condoms are part of the deal too, so I’ve heard.)
But have you seen their latest sex-ed videos? Wow, are they not the usual “If you respect me the way I respect me you’ll wait.” They include: a goofy sense of irony, a doofy mustachioed man, and — somehow — the line, “Hey, a horse is a majestic creature!” The allure lies in … well, not Mustache Guy, but in the meta-: the (finally!) successful attempt to bring humor to oodginess and taboo. Win/win: Planned Parenthood gets their message across, and teenagers across the nation sigh deeply with relief knowing that, armed with this knowledge about STIs and more, they can totally tune out their parents.
According to Chinese custom, 8/08/08 is a super-lucky day to get married.
(Or, if possible, launch the Olympic Games.)

Here’s a PSA from FOBG-run Theatre Askew:
This fall, Theatre Askew is inviting high school students to submit a letter to the next President of the United States. We’re encouraging students (up to 18 years) to describe their vision for the GLBTQ community, including the biggest challenges we must overcome, by the end of the next President’s time in office.
All letters will be reviewed by a panel of GLBTQ-community judges, who will choose the top letters for a special theatrical presentation (by some of New York’s leading actors) in the fall of 2008. Students whose letters are chosen will be invited to participate in a youth-based performance in 2009 using their letters as a jumping-off point to create an original theatre piece.
AND All student letters will be delivered to the White House in January 2009!
If you know of any New York-area youth who might be interested, or anyone who works with young people, please pass this along. Thanks!

BG just stumbled across this oldish-ie but goodie in the Boston Globe Magazine by Erika Cann, who writes: “[A]s I hurtle toward 40, I find myself irresistible to younger men. While I used to be focused on 30- to 40-something mid-career professionals in Dockers, I find that in my pursuit of these “safe bets,” I’m tripping over young Zac Efron look-alikes who are falling to their knees. I have become an Accidental Cougar.”
Say what you want about the term “cougar” — what I want to say, for example, is: “How come we call women who date younger men ‘cougars,’ and men who date younger women ‘men’? — but that, really, isn’t the point of Cann’s charming piece, which is really about being open, adventurous, and patient in the safari of love. Go enjoy the rest after one more bonus teaser: “During this year and a half, I dated a handful of interesting guys all seven to 14 years my junior and was only once approached by a guy in my age range. I went out with him the same weekend I had a date with a 27-year-old, winding up at a string quartet one night and ‘Beerfest’ the next. I fell asleep at one of these events, but I’m too embarrassed to say which one.”

“Horrible” news: there’s much more in store!
(Including, if we’re lucky, a comic/character called “Woman Scorned.”)
Also: Chuck-tastic!

This week on Oprah.com (via Men’s Health): The five best cities to meet men over 35. (They don’t say how much over.) Here, we’ll spoil the slideshow: the winners are … San Jose, Salt Lake City, Raleigh, San Francisco, and Arlington “FUN CENTRAL”(tm) TX. Hmm! Perhaps our own “Feeling Rejected” should consider becoming (if she’s not already) a massive Rangers fan?
P.S. While we’re on the website, props to Oprah for addressing abuse in relationships. Say what you want about her weepy (or jumpy) couch confessions, or Dr. Phil, you can’t deny that when she talks, people — including people with something they need to hear — listen.
